The Army Space Cadre (now called non-FA40 Army space operations personnel and positions) was established in January 2006 when the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army approved the recommendations from the Army Space Cadre Force Management Analysis (FORMAL)

TBCA allows officers attending the Captains Career Course (CCC) the opportunity to apply for their post Key-Developmental (KD) assignment, also known as an Assured Mid-Career Pathway (AMCP). If selected to one of the 30 unique and prestigious AMCPs, officers will have a clear career pathway from the time they graduate CCC until Intermediate Level Education (ILE). 

Starting January 2026, E4s and above can apply to reclassify into the new Career Management Field 40 as a 40D Space Operations Specialist!
