Call: 985252500 or 985250000
You can book ahead so, if you have problems with the roaming and you need it for Saturday, the hotel can book it for you or we can call on Friday from the conference.
If you want to have a good view of the city, go to this restaurant/terrace (bus can make it or taxi, should not be expensive) You can even visit Santa Maria del Naranco nearby, it is only 1200 years old.
If it rains, there is a covered modern food place here, in the center of the town:
Gran Bulevar El Vasco
Getting there!
The workshop will be hosted in Oviedo, a city located in Asturias, northern Spain. The best way to get from Asturias Airport (OVD https://maps.app.goo.gl/5zaHw7c43e17p6t89 ) to Oviedo (~ 45 km) is by bus. Buses depart every 30 minutes, take about 45 minutes and cost 9 €. An ALSA coach (https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/airports/asturias ) will leave you in the Bus station, very close to the center, with connections to local buses, taxis and the train station next to it. Buses are on the right as you exit the terminal and leave every hour from 6.00am to midnight. The journey takes from 40 to 50 minutes.
If you want to share a ride, Uber is not very popular in Spain and availability is short. It is better to share a taxi. The cost will be around 50 – 60 € and it will take about 30 minutes to Oviedo city center.
For people coming from UK, a good option is a plane to Santander, the neighbor province at 180 km from Oviedo. If you are coming from Santander, buses depart from the airport every 1-2 hours; the trip takes approximately 3-4 hours depending on the bus, while it costs 15 €. Trains are an option, but they are slower and more expensive than buses.
If you fly to Madrid (MAD ~470 km), you can either make the connection by plane to Asturias or if you want to spend some time in the city, there are good connections after to Asturias either by train or by bus. Trains (https://www.renfe.com/es/en/experiences/rutas/madrid-oviedo) are fast trains, new and comfortable. They depart from Madrid-Chamartín every ~2 hours from 20 – 70 € (prices vary a lot depending on the time of the day) and taking about 3.5 hours. Bus (https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/coach/madrid-oviedo ) departs from Estación Sur or Moncloa every hour, with a price of ~15€. The trip will take about 6 hours so it is a little bit tiring.
While in Oviedo, the best is to walk or take a taxi (pretty inexpensive) but don’t forget to bring your umbrella, everyday can be a rainy day in Oviedo. https://www.visitoviedo.info/guia-practica/guiasyplanos !

Where to eat
Oviedo has plenty of choices to eat depending on what your preferences are.
If you are willing to have a meal of the traditional Asturian cuisine, there is a street full of restaurants offering them; it is called Gascona Street. There you can have a set meal for between 10 and 30 € or eat à la carte.
There is also a mall called Gran Boulevar El Vasco, which has plenty of options to eat, from fast food like Vips, Popeyes, or La Competencia and also traditional restaurants like Tierra Astur or haute cuisine like Nastura. In Nastura you can book group menus from 36 € onwards.
Also, Campoamor Street and Manuel Pedregal have several options, being also known as the place to have some drinks during the late evenings.
Celiac people should check on the restaurant before ordering, but nowadays most of them have gluten-free options.
If you are vegetarian or vegan, some of those places have options for you, but the following are the best places to go:
La Raposa: Full vegan burger bar. A menú is around 10 €.
El Manglar: Vegan restaurant with the option to add non-vegan cheese to the dishes. It has set meals or à la carte, with dishes between 6 and 13 €.
What to do
There are a great variety of things to do in Asturias besides attending the workshop.
One of the main attractions in Oviedo is its cathedral, which has a price of 8 € per person. This visit includes the whole cathedral besides the tower, which increases the price by another 10 €.
Another interesting visit would be the San Miguel de Lillo and Santa María del Naranco, two Roman Catholic churches situated in the outskirts of Oviedo, on the slope of Mount Naranco. If you feel like reaching the top of the mount, you will find the Cristo del Naranco statue, while you could also enjoy a view of Oviedo. If the visibility conditions allow it, even Gijón and the sea can be seen.
Asturias is a region known for its mining tradition; should you feel like knowing more about it, there is an old mining shaft known as Pozo Sotón, where you can get a taste of what it is like being a coal miner in Asturias. There are 3 kinds of visits: the outside of the shaft (7 €); the long visit, which takes up to 5 hours (48 €); and the short one, which takes 2 and a half hours (30 €).
If you love the sea, you cannot miss the chance to pay a visit to Cabo Peñas, the northernmost point in Spain. In addition to an amazing lighthouse and a museum dedicated to the sea (1€), you will have incredible views of the sea and the cliffs.
When it comes to finding restaurants, it’s a great idea to ask your colleagues in Oviedo once you arrive. They can give you personal recommendations based on the type of cuisine you’re interested in.
