Based on the results of WP1 progressively available and on the requirements of WP2, the Cross-cutting Activity will select case studies and target areas for a detailed meteo-hydrological analysis.
An increased knowledge can be gained also on the basis of single case studies and their comparison. As WP1 identifies intense ARs and extreme events, new case studies will be selected, available data added to the database and simulations planned. Case studies will be compared considering AR characteristics and hydrometeorological impacts. Specific watersheds will be selected for the analysis foreseen in WP2: basins of different size/characteristics, particularly prone to extreme events, close to each other. To assure a warm starting of the activities, the infamous event of 2018 known as “Vaia storm” will be first analysed since it heavily affected several watersheds where the participating partners have already collected observational, modelling and impact data.
