I am a professor of economics at IMT School for Advanced Studies in Lucca, Italy, where I teach econometrics, macroeconomics, and international economics to PhD students. I am specifically interested in topics of international economics, industrial organization, applied econometrics, and machine learning applications to economics.
My most recent works focus on the organization of multinational enterprises, global value chains and technology diffusion, cybersecurity and production, the determinants and consequences of global firms' international market power, and the integration of econometric and machine learning tools for policy evaluation.
In 2025, I am visiting the Institute for Macroeconomics and International Policies (i-MIP) at the Paris School of Economics.
I have been a consultant on international trade and investment issues for the European Commission, the OECD, and the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
I am an active research fellow of the Observatory on Foreign Firms in Italy, whose objectives are to evaluate the impact of multinational companies' presence and identify the factors that both retain and attract foreign investors in Italy.
