Arlo cameras not syncing
If your Arlo camera is not syncing properly, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check the camera's battery level: Ensure that the camera has sufficient battery power. If the battery is low, charge it or replace it with a fully charged battery.
2. Position the camera closer to the base station: Move the camera closer to the base station to establish a stronger connection. Ideally, the camera should be within 30 feet (9 meters) of the base station during the syncing process.
3. Verify the base station's connectivity: Ensure that your Arlo base station is properly connected to your network and has a stable internet connection. Check the Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi connection to make sure they are working correctly.
4. Restart the camera and base station: Power off both the camera and the base station. Wait for a few seconds and then turn them back on. Allow them to fully restart and try syncing the camera again.
5. Reset the camera and base station: If the previous steps did not work, you can try resetting the camera and base station to their factory settings. Please note that resetting will erase all the settings and configurations associated with them, so be prepared to set them up again from scratch.
Update the firmware: Ensure that both the camera and base station have the latest firmware installed. Check the Arlo website or app for any available firmware updates and follow the instructions to update the devices.
Contact Arlo support: If none of the above steps resolve the syncing issue, it's best to reach out to +1 (323) 521-4747
Arlo camera connectivity issues
Check your network connection: Ensure that your camera and the device you're using to access the Arlo system (e.g., smartphone, computer) are connected to a stable and reliable internet connection. Restart your router or modem if necessary.
Verify camera placement and distance: Make sure your Arlo camera is within range of your Wi-Fi router. If it's too far away, consider moving the camera closer or adding a Wi-Fi extender to improve signal strength.
Check camera power and batteries: Ensure that your Arlo camera has sufficient power. If it's battery-powered, check the battery level and replace if necessary. For wired cameras, verify the power source and connections.
Restart the camera and base station: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Power off your Arlo camera and base station, wait for a few seconds, and then power them back on. Allow some time for the devices to reconnect.
Ensure the latest firmware and app updates: Keep your Arlo camera firmware and the Arlo app up to date. Check for any available updates and install them to improve compatibility and performance.
Reset camera settings: If the connectivity problem persists, you can try resetting your Arlo camera to its default settings. Refer to the Arlo documentation or contact Arlo Support for instructions on how to perform a reset.
Arlo camera recording problems
Check the camera settings: Ensure that your Arlo camera is set up to record based on your desired preferences. Verify that the recording mode (continuous, motion-triggered, or scheduled) is correctly configured.
Review motion detection settings: Adjust the motion sensitivity settings on your Arlo camera to ensure it accurately detects and records motion events. Experiment with different sensitivity levels to find the optimal setting for your environment.
Confirm camera positioning: Verify that your Arlo camera is properly positioned and aimed at the desired area. Make sure there are no obstructions or obstacles that could interfere with motion detection or recording.
Check for firmware updates: Ensure that your Arlo camera's firmware is up to date. Visit the Arlo website or use the Arlo mobile app to check for any available firmware updates. Keeping the firmware current can address potential bugs or compatibility issues that may affect recording functionality.
Verify subscription status: If you have a subscription plan with Arlo, confirm that it is active and covers the desired recording features. Some advanced recording options may require a paid subscription.
Power cycle the camera: Try power cycling your Arlo camera by removing the battery or unplugging the power source, waiting for a few seconds, and then reconnecting it. This can help resolve temporary glitches or issues.
