I have been photographing for most of my adult life. For many years, I worked in black and white and loved being in the darkroom, but once I started seeing in color, I have rarely looked back. I mostly photograph natural landscapes and closeups, but other subjects often capture my lens. Doorways and windows have always intrigued me, and photographing them has been an ongoing project over the years.
The changing quality of light and its effect on water with its infinite variety of reflected colors throughout the year bring me back to the same places over and over. I often feel as though I'm seeing them for the first time.
Sometimes the most exciting scene is right at my feet with a whole world to explore without ever taking a step. By moving in close to the subject, wonderful shapes, patterns and designs are there waiting to be discovered.
I would love to see a camera in everyone's hand (yes, a cell phone camera will do the trick!) because the closer we look at our natural surroundings, the more connected we feel, and the more protective we become.
