Hogs take series 2-1 against wash u slayers!

4/23/24

After not having been on the field for a month, Arkansas Club Baseball was excited to get back to business as they took on Washington University - St. Louis. The Hogs looked to get some payback against the Slayers as they swept Arkansas last year during the regular season.

Davis Johnson got the game 1 start. He managed to work through 5 innings giving up 3 runs but only 1 being earned. Andrew Weidenfeller came in to relieve in dominant fashion. He threw 2 innings striking out 3 and didn't give up a single hit! At the plate, Alex Ilgenfritz, Baker Merris, and Roderick Gaines led the offense going a combined 9 for 12 contributing 2 RBI's and scoring 4 runs.

Cannon Kelley started game 2 and gave his best effort striking out 5 and gave up 5 hits. However the defense's 6 errors were responsible for the 5 runs scored against, none of which were earned earned. Jacob Wrightsman came in to close out the game and held the Slayers at bay striking out 1 and not allowing a hit through 1.1 innings of work. The Hogs were shut out at the plate as they struggled to string hits together even though they out hit Wash U 8 hits to 5. The Hogs recieved their first loss of the season and looked to bounce back to take game 3 and with it the series.

Kurt Ippolito got the nod for game 3 striking out 6 through 4.2 innings and only giving up 1 earned run. Nate Moen came in for relief and held the Slayers to 1 earned run. Adam Steen in last and notched a save by blowing the ball by Wash U, striking out one for the final out of the series. The offense was led by Seth Steele who went 3 for 4 knocking in 2 RBI's and had 1 stolen base.

The Hogs look to get hot against Pitt State Club Baseball next weekend of April 27th & 28th to finish out the regular season and finish the season as the best team in the conference!

Arkansas Club Baseball #2 in the country!

Arkansas Club Baseball has been moving up the rankings over the past few weeks to reach an all time high for the program! After much time off the team looks to keep their spot when facing conference rival Washington University St. Louis Slayers!

hogs break into top 10!

Arkansas Club Baseball's dominant trip against SIU-Edwardsville has made them top 10 contenders in the country. This is the first ranking of it's kind for the team in their history! The Hogs' offense, currently led by Kurt Ippolito and Baker Merris, has been on fire and shows no signs of slowing down!

On the mound Cannon Kelley and Davis Johnson lead the team with stellar performances week in and week out, allowing the bats to pile on the hurt!

With more members scheduled to come back soon from injury and mid-season additions, this team looks to have an unstoppable run into the post-season!

9 in a row for hogs club baseball!

2/27/24

Another week, another sweep! The Hogs Club Baseball team has moved onto 9-0 this spring making them top dogs in the Great American North conference.

Cannon Kelley threw a complete game shutout in Game 1 fanning 8 in just 5 innings. At the plate, Kurt Ippolito caught fire going 4 for 4 with 2 singles, a double, a triple, and driving in 5 RBI's. Game 1 was ended by run rule with a final score of 17-0.

Game 2 encountered complication with the fields lights causing the game to be suspended till the next day. Adam Steen struck out 5 only giving up 2 runs in 2.1 innings and Nate Moen struck out 2 in just two innings before the pause. Kurt Ippolito started the next day in the top of the 5th inning and rolled through SIU-Edwardsville striking out 7 in 2.2 innings of work. Baker Merris and Seth Steele led the offense with a combined 4 RBI's and making the final score 9-2.

Will Ransom started Game 3 and carried a no hitter over his 4 innings and striking out 6. Seth Steele would come in the 5th and finish the last 3 innings of the game. Neither pitcher allowed a single run. Baker Merris launched another home run making his total 2 for the year. Jackson Wollscheid also got hot, going 3 for 4 with 2 singles, 1 double,1 walk, and 2 RBI's. The Hogs got their third sweep of the season ending the game 11-0.

Arkansas Club Baseball now sits at 9-0 for the season and is looking forward to an off week before facing John Brown for a 9 inning non-conference matchup on March 9th. Don't forget to tune into our Youtube channel to watch streams and highlights of our season!

arkansas sweeps wildcats!

2/19/24

For the second week of the season the club Hogs swept the K-State Club Baseball team! Improving their record to 6-0 on the year, this strong start for the Hogs was spearheaded by Cannon Kelley on the mound and Kurt Ippolito at the plate.

In game 1 Cannon Kelley had another dominant outing going 4 innings and fanning 8 Wildcats. He only have up 2 hits and allowed no runs! Kurt Ippolito, Baker Merris, and Brody Baumann led the Hogs' offense to a staggering 11-1 run rule.

Game 2 however was a 10 inning nail biter with Davis Johnson getting the start on the bump.Β  Johnson struck out 5 over 5 innings and managed to hold K-State to one run. Seth Steele led the Hogs going 2 for 4 with a double and crossed the plate one time. Roderick Gaines walked it off with an reach on error allowing Kurt Ippolito to score and end the game.

With the series under their belt, the Hogs came into game 3 looking for the sweep. President Will Ransom went 4.2 innings striking out 4 and giving up 3 runs. Nate Moen would come into relieve striking out to and only allowing the Wildcats to nab one more run. Baker Merris and Blake Bridges showed off their power by smashing a homerun each to seal the victory 8-4.

Arkansas Club Baseball will be travelling to Alton, Illinois to take on SIU-Edwardsville where they look to continue the momentum of this exciting season!

hogs ranked 16th in the nation!

After the sweep of he Oklahoma State Club Baseball team, the Hogs find themselves in the top 20 rankings in NCBA Division II. After being knocked off the leaderboard last year the players are hungry to establish a foothold in the top 10. Arkansas Club Baseball is back out at Lincoln High School this weekend to face off against new conference opponent Kansas State!

HoGS sweep cowboys on opening weekend!

2/12/24

This weekend was the Opening Week for club baseball teams all across the country! The Arkansas Club Baseball team was set to square off against Oklahoma State at Lincoln High School. This was the first series the OK-State team had played in over a year. The Hogs came out slow only managing to score 1 run with 5 hits.

In game 1 making his club baseball debut, freshman Cannon Kelley went above and beyond tossing 6 scoreless innings while striking out 10! Adam Steen came in to shut the door on the Cowboys getting himself the first save of the season ending the game with a score of 1-0.

On the mound for game 2 was returning veteran Davis Johnson who struck out 9 over the course of 4 innings of work. Jacob Wrightsman came in relief for 2 innings and gave up no runs. At the plate, Roderick Gaines led the offense by going 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's. Baker Merris also had an impressive debut going 2 for 4 with a double and 2 RBI's. The Hogs secured the series with a resounding 13-1 run rule victory for game 2.

Arkansas got the sweep in game 3 10-8 with Will Ransom starting for the Hogs, he went 2.2 innings with 3 K's and giving up 3 earned runs. Nate Moen relieved Ransom striking out one. Andrew Weidenfeller came into close out the game and secure the sweep striking out 5 over 3.1 innings of work. At the dish Alex Ilgenfritz, Dylan Henson, and Roderick Gaines combined for 5 hits to give the Hogs the victory.

Arkansas is back home next weekend to play against Kansas State and they look to continue the strong start to their season!
