School Committee members should have a direct window into schools that goes beyond reports from administrators. My goal is to visit every school during my term, whether for a School Council meeting, play or concert, principal's coffee, or to observe classes. I'll track those visits here.
4/28/26: Attended district listening session on the principal search process at Fletcher-Maynard Academy.
3/28/26: Visited CRLS students participating in a high school ethics bowl hosted by the Harvard Undergraduate Ethics Society.
I'm not going to lie: Between the retreats the full School Committee held to set the tone for the next two years, my role on the bargaining team to reach a new contract agreement with our educators, workshops on the FY2027 budget, and serving on an interview committee for hiring an important district staffer, it has been difficult to visit schools in the way I would like. I expect that as the budget process and the hiring for that role wrap up -- and, looking ahead more, we arrive at a contract -- I'll be able to spend significantly more time visiting schools.
2/4/26: I volunteered with Friends of Graham & Parks (where, yes, my child attends school) to hand out coffee to caregivers waiting to go into the grades three and four school concert.
1/21/26: CRLS site council
12/5/25: Fletcher-Maynard Academy School Council meeting
12/5/25: "Alice By Heart," CRLS fall musical
