About Me

I am currently serving as a faculty member in the Centre for Innovative Manufacturing and Research, VIT University. I hold Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and Master of Engineering in Computer-Aided Design & Manufacturing from the University of Madras. I was awarded Doctor of Philosophy from VIT University in the field of Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing and Materials) in 2015. Earlier I was associated with industry for eight years serving as a production engineer QC welding inspector. Have expertise in the field of materials, metal joining, surface coating, fabrication of pressure vessels and piping, cross country pipelines, and refinery erection. I was certified as a welding inspector (AWS-CWI) from the American welding society, Florida, USA.

Publications

I am into academic research and teaching for the past 7 years. As an academician, I have 55+ international publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus and Thomson Reuters. I have also published two book chapters. My current area of research is laser materials processing, laser shock peening, Mechanical Behaviour of materials, metal joining, residual stress measurements, high- temperature corrosion, and thermal spray coatings.

My recent research article titled “High-temperature dry sliding wear behaviour of laser powder bed fused Inconel 718” in the area of Additive Manufacturing is in a High impact factor reputed peer-reviewed journal “Additive Manufacturing” with impact factor 7.02.

I was awarded a certificate of appreciation and cash price for the past 6 years continuously from VIT University towards international journal publication. I am acting as a resource person, organizer and executive committee member of many International conferences & workshops

Research Funding

I have undertaken two private funded projects from R&D division of reputed heavy industries “Tata Steel” and “FLSmidth”. I am awarded with a government grants for collaborating with Polish university on EBPVD Coatings.
