I solemnly vow to abide by the following rules in my pursuit of planetary circumnavigation challenges in Elite Dangerous:
- I shall undertake the circumnavigation challenge in either the Horizons or Odyssey versions of the game.
- I shall select a game mode that ensures uninterrupted performance, understanding that if my Commander is killed in PvE or PvP encounters, my circumnavigation attempt will be considered failed.
- I shall exercise freedom in choosing my starting location for circumnavigation, allowing me to tailor my experience and embark on my journey from a location of my choice within any planet in the game.
- I shall officially commence the circumnavigation when I disembark from my ship, dismiss it, and witness its entry into supercruise. The coordinates at this precise moment shall mark my "start coordinates."
- I shall acknowledge that the nadir point refers to the ground spot directly beneath my feet on the opposite side of the planet, with the understanding that if I am situated at the North Pole, the South Pole shall be my nadir.
- I shall ensure that, at least once during my circumnavigation, my on-foot or SRV coordinates are within 1° of the nadir of my start coordinates, affirming my commitment to thorough exploration.
- Upon reaching the nadir point, the new route that takes me back to my starting point must be farther than 120 degrees in longitude from the old route. This requirement ensures a significant variation in the circumnavigation path and prevents merely retracing the same path back to the starting location. Making use of a great circle route, if possible, is recommended for optimal navigation. However, it is acknowledged that terrain and planetary features may dictate alternative routes, and thus, adhering to a great circle is not mandatory in such circumstances. The focus remains on maintaining a substantial degree of difference in longitude for the return journey to enhance exploration and challenge in the circumnavigation attempt.
- I shall conclude my circumnavigation at the original "start coordinates" with a tolerance of less than 1°, accomplished by recalling my ship and embarking on-foot or in my SRV to reunite with it.
- I shall respect the absence of any time limit imposed upon the circumnavigation challenge, recognizing that I have the liberty to switch between SRV and on-foot modes as needed.
- I shall make use of the permitted SRV repairs, refueling, and re-arming at any time during my circumnavigation, utilizing the natural resources found on the planets to facilitate my journey.
- I shall acknowledge that consulting friends and utilizing third-party tools for information, such as material deposit coordinates, is permissible in my pursuit of the circumnavigation challenge. I shall maintain a minimum distance of 100 kilometers from any other player object to ensure fair play.
- I shall abide by the rule that during the circumnavigation, I am strictly prohibited from embarking or disembarking any object other than my own SRV until the journey is successfully completed.
- I shall recognize the presence of permadeath, accepting that if my SRV is destroyed or if I am killed while on-foot, my circumnavigation attempt will be deemed a failure.
- I shall observe the restriction of not using any surface settlement for refueling, repairing, or re-arming. Surface settlements allow me to board with my SRV, but they do so by embarking me to my ship first. As you embark your ship, your SRV will be repaired. Therefore, boarding in settlements is not allowed.
- I shall record an uninterrupted, in-game video of my entire performance, utilizing a format accepted by platforms like YouTube.
- If I will complete my circumnavigation in multiple gaming sessions, I will provide separate recordings for each session.
- In the case of multiple videos, I will ensure that each subsequent video starts from the same coordinates and heading as the previous one. However, I acknowledge that occasional game bugs or glitches may unintentionally alter the coordinates. If such deviations occur, I will make necessary adjustments to maintain consistency and provide a detailed explanation for any discrepancies.
- I understand that the video must solely focus on my in-game actions and must not include external cameras capturing my face or unrelated subjects. I may choose to create a "longplay" video without commentary or a "let's play" video with my own commentary. While audio is optional, the visual content of the video must always be visible.
- If an ongoing recording is unexpectedly lost due to a power outage or similar unforeseen circumstances, I may resume from the last recorded point. However, I will provide a detailed explanation along with any relevant evidence to support the continuation.
- While it is not strictly prohibited, I acknowledge that active participation and manual control in the circumnavigation challenge are encouraged. I understand that excessive reliance on automation or external tools without active involvement goes against the spirit of sportsmanship.
With unwavering commitment, I pledge to adhere to these rules and honor the spirit of the circumnavigation challenge in Elite Dangerous.
