Catalogs

Lots of free catalogs exist for identification help. Formats and quality levels vary. A basic suggestion is to make and save your own library of files, pdf or jpg etc., to guard against future broken links and zombie site dysfunction. There are also examples of old advertisements, old and new magazine articles, and retail catalogs, to keep an eye out for.

Translating Japanese can be done with the basic picture or screengrab to translation trick using: https://translate.google.com/?sl=ja&tl=en&op=images. Pics of poor quality can be improved for better translation success using various editor tools, but the simplest is: open in MS Photos > Edit > Adjustment > use the Sharpness slider > Save.

Links under the badge name headings below are sorted alphabetically. Note of course that dates after 1986 are not Matsumoku, in some of the links. You might also see some anomalies from one site to another with the same catalog being shown with different dates. The Vintage Japan Guitars site is probably the most accurate overall.
