“Crazy for Startup – Edition 0” took place on November 20, 2025, as part of the official program of Genova Smart Week in Tour, hosted at the former Quarto Psychiatric Hospital in Genoa , powered by Clickutilityteam - Carlo Silva.
The event brought together institutional representatives and leading voices from the Italian innovation ecosystem, including:
Alessandro Terrile, Deputy Mayor of Genoa and Councillor for Sustainable Economic Development
Francesca Ghio, Councillor Delegate for Youth Policies, City of Genoa
Alberto Clavarino, President, Fondazione Genova Startup
Ilaria Scaliti, Board Member and Head of Communication, Fondazione Genova Startup
Emil Abirascid, Founder and Director, Startup Business
Stefano Quintarelli, Founder, Rialto Venture Capital
Giorgia Zunino, Innovation Manager and Strategic Foresight Expert
Max Panìco, CEO, Rock in Azienda
Organized in collaboration with Fondazione Genova Startup and Quarto Pianeta, the event focused on the innovation ecosystem and explored 10 key thematic areas, including startup ecosystem, venture capital, entrepreneurship, technology and society, networking, sustainable future, and talent development.
Within this high-level and content-dense framework, I was invited to provide Strategic Live Illustration and comprehensive visual documentation of the event.
My contribution consisted of:
Real-time visual storytelling of each keynote and panel intervention
Structured graphic synthesis of key insights and recurring themes
A final 10-minute voice + visual recap, consolidating the main concepts into a cohesive illustrated narrative presented at the conclusion of the event
The purpose was not merely to illustrate the talks, but to transform complex discussions into a clear visual structure — enhancing audience engagement and generating a lasting communication asset.
My Role as Live Illustrator: From Panels to Visual Storytelling
As a Live Illustrator for corporate and innovation events, my contribution consisted of:
Translating each keynote and panel into structured visual storytelling
Capturing key messages in real time through graphic recording
Creating a final visual synthesis that connected all interventions
Across 4 illustrated boards, I transformed complex discussions about venture capital, startup culture, mindset shifts, public speaking, and technological responsibility into accessible, memorable visual narratives .
Rather than summarizing passively, the live drawing process:
Clarified strategic concepts
Highlighted recurring themes
Reinforced key statements
Strengthened audience engagement
The visuals became both a documentation tool and an active engagement device during the event itself.
Key Themes Captured Through Live Drawing
The illustrated panels highlighted several core insights emerging from the talks:
Startups are not only about technology, but about mindset and responsibility
Failure is part of the entrepreneurial journey
Innovation requires collaboration between institutions, investors and founders
Europe must strengthen its ecosystem to compete globally
Public speaking and storytelling are strategic tools for startup success
Sustainable innovation demands ethical and social awareness
These concepts were visually synthesized into bold, memorable frames — combining text, metaphor, and character illustration to make complex content immediately understandable.
The Strategic Value of Live Illustration for Conferences and Corporate Events
The impact of Live Illustration at “Crazy for Startup” went beyond the event itself.
The visual boards are used as:
Event documentation
Shareable communication assets
Social media content
Community engagement tools
A lasting visual memory of the Smart Week experience
This is the strategic power of Live Drawing for conferences and startup events:
It transforms live content into a long-term communication asset.
In high-density events — especially those involving innovation, entrepreneurship, and public institutions — clarity and memorability are critical. Visual storytelling supports both.
Why Live Illustration Matters in the Innovation Ecosystem
In events dedicated to startups and venture capital, conversations are often layered, technical, and future-oriented.
Live Illustration:
Makes complexity visible
Strengthens positioning
Supports engagement
Creates legacy
“Crazy for Startup” demonstrated how visual documentation can elevate a high-level innovation event into a structured and shareable narrative.
For organizers looking to combine strategic communication with audience engagement, Live Illustration is not decoration.
