Small investor, #opensource fan, #AI skeptic, news junkie! I am usually long energy, some software and tech. Committed to low-debt capitalism, pro-Life. Interests below are in mostly alphabetical, some topical, order. On social media, my 'Like' means 'Glad you posted this,' not necessarily that I agree with it. Re-tweets or re-posts mean 'Interesting enough to share.' My weekly work and posting rhythm usually moves from business and politics on Monday and Tuesday to more tech and philosophical issues later in the week, with a tech focus on Saturday when possible.

Use out-of-band comm channels for simple authentication.
What is the the meaning of "out-of-band" in "out-of-band key exchange"?
Things to avoid online include CMP: cards, money and p0rn. Online you can use a 'proof pic' or 'check call' to verify all parties. Use the main band to trade public keys. Embed out-of-band material. Then resend in the main band. To keep things simple it has to be done quickly. Even better: a video chat with sound is hard to beat for proof of reality.
