Ari Koslow

I am a doctoral student at MIT, in the department of Linguistics and Philosophy. I work on the philosophy of language and feminist theory, and have further interests in metaphysics and the philosophy of mind.

My dissertation, "Meaning Change, in Theory and in Practice" concerns conceptual variation, and the relationship between meaning and use. I argue that careful attention suggests some surprising conclusions about the nature of linguistic meaning as well as the hope that revising our concepts can improve the world.

In a past life, I did my BA at Yale University, taught Latin to high school students, earned a certificate in Classics from Columbia University, bartended, and biked long distances.
