Arfat Ahmad Sofi

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, India. I completed a two‑year postdoctoral fellowship at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (August 2016–July 2018), during which I conducted advanced research in economics. Before that, I served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu (November 2015–July 2016), contributing to policy‑relevant studies on youth and development.

I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Pondicherry University, Puducherry. My research interests span Applied Development Economics, Public Economics, Environmental and Energy Economics, and Applied Spatial Econometrics.

I investigate the interactions between economic policy, environmental outcomes, and spatial dynamics to inform evidence-based policy design.
