Areté Manufacturing is my dream of not only a way to make a living, but to make a difference. The long term goal of Areté Manufacturing is bring in new machinists and train them and give them higher level skills than just being an operator.
Before I became interested in machining, I was going to college to be an agriculture education teacher. My uncle at the time was short handed in his machine shop. He asked me to work there part time as an operator and spare hand. To help get parts and odd jobs done around the shop. My supervisor at the time must have seen something that looked like crude talent at the time. He would slowly give me more responsibility when it came to the machines and parts. I had worked there for just short of a year when my supervisor told me instead of continuing my education for teaching I should go for machining. My supervisor's belief in me and the promise of better pay convinced me to change career paths.
While I may have decided not to continue my education to be a teacher. My heart still beats like a teachers. Part of me still wants to teach and help the next generation find their way. I could still go back and be a teacher but I do not want to give up all the things I love about machining. Making chips, being imaginative with work holding and making a close as you can get to a perfect part. I love those things just as much.
That is where Areté manufacturing comes in. This is my way of combining my two passions. I still get to be a machinist and make amazing parts. While still always finding new challenges in the world. With the hopes of bringing on a young machinist and giving them the skills they need to reach their full potential. It also lets me go past just students and young people. The consulting and contract work also gives that satisfaction of helping other people think and see things in different ways.
Areté Manufacturing is how I plan to make my dream life a reality. Letting me help solve people's problems, do a job I love and help the next generation grow.
Out here hoping to make a difference,
