The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB) invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level to begin in the Fall semester of the 2026–2027 academic year (August 2026).
AUB is a teaching-centered research university with a commitment to liberal arts education. Founded in 1866, its mission is to produce and deliver high-quality knowledge and to contribute to the well-being and development of the population of Lebanon and the West Asia and North Africa region.
We encourage candidates from all fields of Economics to apply. Successful candidates will teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels and should be committed to research and teaching of the highest quality. The teaching load is four courses per year. The language of instruction is English. Candidates must have a PhD in Economics by the time of appointment. The initial appointment is for a period of four years to allow for a mid-tenure review.

The Development Economics program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) invites applications for a renewable position, open rank, starting Fall 2026.
The position is in the area of development economics in all specializations particularly (all other thinds considered) macroeconomic analyses of economic development.
Appointees are expected to teach two graduate-level courses per semester, advise and supervise students, participate in seminars, provide service, and conduct research. Candidates should be able to teach in Arabic and English. The minimum requirement is a Ph.D. in economics and proficiency in written and spoken Arabic.

About the Africa Econometric Society Meeting 2026:
The Africa Econometric Society meeting will be held on June 10-13, 2026, in Cairo.
The application deadline is November 15, 2025.
All fields (not just econometrics and economic theory) are welcome to submit a paper.

About the Arab Graduate Students Conference 2026:
The fifth round of the conference will be held from 11-13 April 2026 at the Arab Center premises in Doha, Qatar.
The conference will provide Arab doctoral students and recent PhD graduates in the social sciences and humanities, based at Western universities, an open space to present papers derived from their PhD theses and receive constructive academic feedback. This conference will give the participants the chance to benefit from discussions with their peers and with established academics. Most importantly, the conference will give the participants an opportunity to better acquaint themselves with an Arab research agenda as well as to create collegial, professional networks within the Arab region.

Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a PhD candidate in the advanced stages of their dissertation and are enrolled in Western universities (based in Europe, North America or Oceania).
Be a recent graduate (within 2 years) of a PhD programme at a Western university.
All candidates must also have a demonstrable connection to a member-state of the Arab League.

A research proposal (no more than 500 words in Arabic or English), including the main research topic, methodology, and data/fieldwork on which it is based.
An up-to-date CV.
