Understand whether the primary stress mode in a femur is compression or bending, using CAD models obtained from medical sources, force values from literature, and simulation on ANSYS Structural Module.
Succesfully replicated results from the journal paper, Stress and strain distribution within the intact femur: compression or bending? M.E. Taylor, ICE. Tanner, M.A.R. Freemant and A.L. Yettram
Simulate and compare the response of an 8-ply composite laminate to a steel plate of equivalent thickness, upon low velocity impact, on ABAQUS, using Hashin Damage criteria.
Succesfully performed the simulations and validated results using the journal paper, Finite element analysis of a modified progressive damage model for composite laminates under low-velocity impact, by Junjie Zhou, Pihua Wen, and Shengnan Wang.
A mini project to understand ANSYS APDL using ANSYS thermal to understand the effect of heat from a moving heat source(LASER), to replicate Laser Powder Bed Fusion.
Succesfully implemented moving Gaussian Heat Source with desired power on the surface on IN718 in ANSYS.
Patients advised bedrest are at risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis(DVT) when they remain idle for long periods of time. To avoid this, medically approved exercise is necessary. However, with increasing labour costs, this becomes very expensive. To avoid this, a cheaper model was designed and a simple Proof Of Concept was fabricated.
A MATLAB code was developed to design a slotted lever quick return mechanism to produce dimensions for a device custom made for each patient, for a low cost device costing less than 100 USD. The model was then fabrictated and worked as intended.
