At AIR (Area Improvement & Restoration), we are committed to creating cleaner, greener, and more empowered communities. As a privately owned entity, AIR takes the initiative to clean and restore spaces where necessary, ensuring that our neighborhoods remain safe, beautiful, and environmentally sustainable.
Unlike volunteer-based organizations, AIR does not rely on unpaid labor. We believe in fair compensation for all workers, which is why everyone who participates in our clean-up efforts is a paid professional. Our goal is to uplift and empower individuals by providing them with sustainable job opportunities within our network.
Why Community Fundraising Matters
To sustain our clean-up initiatives and continue providing employment opportunities, community fundraising plays a crucial role. By supporting AIR’s mission, residents, businesses, and organizations can contribute to the growth of a structured, sustainable cleaning network. These funds help us:
✅ Pay and train workers who are dedicated to keeping our environment clean.
✅ Expand our initiatives to cover more neighborhoods, schools, parks, and public spaces.
✅ Invest in eco-friendly equipment and waste management solutions for long-term impact.

On 03 July 2025, A.I.R carried out a focused micro clean-up on Antoinette Street in Claremont, Johannesburg. What appeared to be a small patch of litter turned out to be a much bigger challenge—hidden debris, layers of waste, and years of neglect.
Despite feeling overwhelmed at moments, our team pushed through with determination and heart. Local workers were once again employed and compensated for their efforts, staying true to AIR’s mission of job creation through environmental restoration.
Throughout the day, some residents cheered us on—others passed by silently or skeptically—but we stayed grounded in our purpose: to clean, to uplift, and to show what’s possible when we care for the spaces we live in.
On 03 June 2025, A.I.R returned to action—this time with more hands on deck—to clean up Steytler Street and Rahima Moosa Street in Westbury. What began as a neglected area filled with illegal dumping was transformed into a cleaner, more respected public space.
For this clean-up, more local workers were employed, reflecting AIR’s growing commitment to job creation and community empowerment. With each clean-up, we not only restore the environment, but also offer paid opportunities to those ready to make a difference.

Before & After: Restoring Hoy Street, Newclare
Our recent cleanup outside the Masjied shows the power of community care — transforming neglected spaces into clean, safe environments for everyone.
On 03 May 2025, AIR (Area Improvement & Restoration) took action on Hoy Street in Newclare, transforming a neglected and heavily polluted area into a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming space for the community.
This is the power of what happens when people care, and when action meets purpose. With the help of local workers, community collaboration, and the drive to restore dignity to our streets, we turned a dumping hotspot into a cleaner public space that residents can be proud of.
