Construction sites involve complex and dynamic environments where safety hazards continuously emerge.
This research develops AI-driven methods — including computer vision, wearable sensor data analytics, and deep learning — to automatically identify and monitor safety hazards on construction sites.
By integrating multi-channel data from cameras and wearable devices, we aim to build real-time hazard identification systems that enhance worker safety and enable proactive risk management.
Wearable sensors such as IMUs and physiological biosensors provide rich data about construction workers' physical status.
This research investigates how wearable sensor data can be used to classify work activities, assess physical demands, detect fatigue, and evaluate gait stability.
Our goal is to develop sensor-based platforms that support worker health management and productivity analysis in construction and manufacturing environments.
Leveraging advances in object detection, action recognition, and spatiotemporal graph neural networks, this research automates the monitoring of construction progress, worker behavior, and finishing work quality.
Key topics include activity recognition across varying camera angles, occlusion-aware worker detection, and text-parsing integrated inspection systems for automated construction supervision.
Walkability and Built Environment Assessment
The built environment significantly impacts the physical well-being of pedestrians, particularly the elderly.
This research applies wearable sensing and deep learning techniques to quantitatively assess walkability, detect environmental barriers, and evaluate pedestrian satisfaction.
Our work contributes to evidence-based guidelines for designing age-friendly and accessible walking environments.
