Database

Greek Database of Ancient Drama performances enumerates 1250 performances, mostly of professional character in Greece and abroad. It spans the time period from 1817 since 2008. The collection of data started in order to develop a communication between other data bases in Greece and abroad. It has been subjected in every process, changed its form, updated in order to became handy for the student.

Information was drown from the records of the Theatrical museum, the E.L.I.A. the National Theatre and from personal records. As far as it concerns the critiques of the 380 performances from 1970 since 1994 the researchers consulted the records of the National Theatre, the Aristotelian University, the National of North Greece, the Critics Union, the Theatrical Library of Athens, the National Library, the records of the newspapers ”To Bima” and ”Ta Nea” and the collections of critics which have been published.

In its creation contributed Gregoris Ioannidis, Marina Yeroulanou, Mary Iliadis, Leonidas Papadopoulos, Petros Vrahiotis, Maria Hamali, Eleftheria Ioannidou, Anna Poupou and Spiros Nikolopoulos.

Greek Database of Ancient Drama performances was materialized thanks to the generous donation of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.

It is also ready for publication.
