FIRST TRIP TO IPOH
DAY 1
On the 1st of May, the 22nd unit of Archiputra were on their way to Ipoh at 8.30 a.m.
We arrived at Taman Gunung Lang at roughly 11.30 a.m. where we were greeted with one of the representative of Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh.Â
After the briefing, we then headed onto the boat to arrive at the park.Â
There were a lot of cute little monkeys in the park. One of the monkeys managed to snatch someone's 100 plus bottle.
Despite being full grown university students, we were still amazed by the dinosaur playground.
We then had to carry on a survey with the tourists. Some of us were running around to find tourists, some shaded from the hot weather.
Our lecturers had their own share of fun too.
After spending a hot afternoon at TRGL, we went to have lunch at AEON Kinta City and went back to our homestay.
DAY 2
On the 2nd of May, we continue our journey to do the Precedent Study of Ipoh boutique hotel tasks. All of the groups went to each of their boutique hotels. But before that, of course we had to stop by the medan selera to get some breakfast.
DAY 3
On day 3, we went out to explore the local attraction in Ipoh by ourselves before going back to UPM.
On our way to back to UPM, we stopped by to learn and observe the Malay Traditional architecture in Bagas Zakariah Orchard Lodge.
SECOND TRIP TO IPOH
DAY 1
On the 16th of May, the 22nd unit of Archiputra were back on their way to Ipoh for the second time at 9.30 a.m.
When we finally reached TRGL, we were greeted by a representative of MBI, who introduced us to the bamboo material.Â
He thought us a lot of things about bamboo construction; from the character of bamboo, to the ways of bamboo structure.
He also showed us incredible bamboo designs in a smaller scale, some were made by other students from other universities.
Then, we were assigned to design our own bamboo structure by model making. The materials were provided.
Some of us were definitely struggling to design a bamboo structure, perhaps still thinking about the results of their final presentation.
With some finished and unfinished work, we had tea break provided by the MBI.
We then left TRGL to go back to our homestays, where some of us went to either rest or go out on their own.
DAY 2
After a good rest, we went back to TRGL to set up our UMI street exhibition. We also exhibited our bamboo model designs of Day 1.
The public were given stickers for them to choose any designs they like from the exhibition.
The other highlight of the day was the installation of the Pondok Ilmu Asli (PIAS) designed by Dr. Wan Srihani. The boys of the class contributed heavily on constructing the installation.
Some of the girls also participated in the installation, while some others in landscaping works.
We were not able to complete the installation on time, but thanks to the representatives of MBI, they helped us finish the installation.
It was indeed, an eventful day for Elysia.
