Master of Architecture students are required to take 15-18 credits of graduate elective (5XXX or 8XXX) level courses as part of the M.Arch curriculum. As outlined in the SoA graduate handbook.
Students who wish to take electives outside the Department may do so with written permission from the Director of Graduate Studies, and by filling out the External Elective Form. These courses must be 5000-level or above for graduate credit. Students interested in submitting a request to take an external elective course should fill out this form ahead of registering for the intended course, preferably one week before the start of their registration time.
In addition to filling out this form, students should contact the instructor of record for the course to introduce themselves and describe their interest in taking their course.
