Activities

The UoIAC addresses a variety of research topics including:

• • Radioisotope dating of archaeological artifacts and other related samples and objects.

  • Thermoluminescence and optical stimulated luminescence dating of samples with archaeological and geological interest.

  • Characterization and elemental composition determination of archaeological and geological samples with the ED-XRF method (destructive and non destructive method).

  • Micro-structure and surface quality determination with the use of electronic microscopy (SEM).

  • Publication of the results of an archaeological or geological research with use of multimedia and website construction.

The Archaeometry Center provides services to other Departments of the University of Ioannina and to Public and Private Sector Organizations and Enterprises, Research Centers, Museums, research groups of other Universities in Greece and Foreign Countries.
