Aravind Harikumar (Member, IEEE) earned his B.Tech. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, India, in 2007. He then completed an M.Tech. in Remote Sensing and Wireless Sensor Networks at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, India, in 2011, followed by an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics from the ITC-Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, in 2014. He obtained his Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Trento, Italy, in 2019. From 2019 to 2023, Dr. Harikumar conducted research on drone-based forest dynamics at the University of Toronto Mississauga, Canada. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, where he explores vegetation dynamics using advanced remote sensing and machine learning techniques. His research emphasizes vegetation species classification, phenotyping studies, and the estimation of crop and forest parameters utilizing UAV-based hyperspectral and LiDAR data. In addition to his research, Dr. Harikumar serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, and he reviews for several prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing and the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
