Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wan Izhan Nawawi is currently a dedicative researcher at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Perlis. Recently, he is appointed as Deputy Rector of Research & Industrial Linkages, (PJIM&A) UiTM Perlis Branch effective from 15 June 2024. His specialty is in material synthesis and wastewater treatment. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Chemistry at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2004, Master of Science in Industrial Technology at UiTM in 2007 and later completed his Ph.D. in Photocatalysis at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2013. Shortly after that, he joined UiTM Cawangan Perlis as a Senior Lecturer under the Chemistry Department, Faculty of Applied Sciences. In 2017, He had the opportunity to undergo a two-year postdoctoral study at the University of York, United Kingdom, sponsored by the Ariel Power Line (APL) Sdn. Bhd. His current research areas are visible light active photocatalyst modifications via heterojunction, doping and coupling approaches on several photocatalysts such as titanium dioxide, bismuth tungstate, bismuth vanadate and carbonitride. These photocatalyst modifications are tested for the wastewater treatment, hydrogen generation as well as photovoltaic research fields. Currently, he has supervised 11 postgraduate students studying for Ph.D. and Master's degrees in these areas as main and co-supervisor. He has successfully graduated 7 postgraduate students. He has also published his research work in reputable journals and presented many scientific papers in various national and international conferences. At the moment, his google scholar h-index is 27, with citations of more than 1914. Dr Wan Izhan has also active in joining research innovation exhibition competition. He had joined several prestige exhibition competitions such as Malaysian Technology Expo (MTE, MTE-Special COVID-19 and MTE-SDG). International Technology Exposition (ITEX), Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF), International Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand Seminar on Innovation and Creativity (IMIT-SIC) and many more. Since 2021, he had participated 35 exhibition competitions at local and international level and won 34 gold medals, 1 most outstanding award, 2 best of the best award, 2 platinum awards, 4 special awards and 2 merit of distinction award. Presently, he has successfully received the ASEAN Excellent Invention & Innovation Award, along with 1 gold and 1 silver award, at the Intellectual Property Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) in Bangkok in this 2024 year.
