I am a research associate at Jeju Peace Institute and a research fellow at the Institute for Political Research, Korea University.
My research examines the political processes that translate voter preferences into policy outcomes in democratic systems, focusing on factors that undermine ideal representation. I investigate how various endogenous and exogenous influences degrade the quality of democratic representation. Currently, I am exploring how economic and political polarization at the voter level influences the ideological alignment of political parties and their effects on democratic representation. My work also investigates the role of economic polarization in fostering the rise of populist movements and reshaping party systems across democracies.
