So you have decided to go professional and maybe even try and make a living out of diving in the Ocean. This can be a big step in your life if taken the right way.

Diver Prerequisites
Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver.
18 years old.
Logged 40 scuba dives.
Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months.
Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physucuan within 12 months,
Apart from these prerequisites, as a dive professional you are also needed to complete required waterskill requirements such as:
400 metre swim without any swimming aids and using any stroke or combination of strokes.
15 minutes float or tread with hands (not arms) out of the water during the last 2 minutes.
800 metre snorkeling, face down, using a mask, snorkel and fins.
100 metre Inert Diver Tow.
Few of these water skills also have a scoring criteria that is based on time. Ask your instructor for more information regarding the same.
