The topic of our project is relevant, as it considers the perspective of organizing air quality monitoring and compliance with the requirements of the new Sanitary Regulations of school work in the conditions of countermeasures and adaptive quarantine measures of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the conditions of the pandemic, schools have been working for the third year, with the form of offline education, it is imperative to comply with the requirements of the sanitary regulations regarding the ventilation of classrooms, because this is a powerful lever to prevent the spread of the coronavirus among participants in the educational process. In addition, the quality of the air in the school affects the nature of cognitive processes (cognitive processes), since hypoxia especially reduces the quality of the brain.
However, inadequate ventilation can significantly increase the energy costs of the school building during the heating season. Inadequate we consider constant airing in the micro-ventilation mode, in which large volumes of heat are lost in vain. We identified the problem of air quality optimization, compliance with sanitary regulations and responsible energy consumption in the school building as the basis of the applied component of our research project.
To monitor the air condition in classrooms, we chose devices manufactured by the NGO "Free Arduino" and the Eco City project controlled by them, which recently became our partners))) The device is called Air Home and has all the necessary sensors for use in an educational environment, namely:
particulate matter PM1, PM2.5, PM10;
a detector for determining carbon dioxide in the air,
as well as temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure in the room,
which are already installed in the classes of the pilot project.
As digital software was created a Telegram Bot to receive integrated air quality indicators in real time from our devices. TRY IT!
FUTURE PLANS
We`ve idea with installing recuperators and creating our own air monitoring device. I calculated options with self-created devices and installed recuperators and here are the results:
Using already made Air Home devices with the price of 3 511 UAH ≈ 95 USD ≈ 90 EUR for the equipment of all classrooms of the school building, namely 40, 140440 UAH ≈ 3820 USD ≈ 3570 EUR will be needed. Having created your own device, from the components presented on the slide, the amount for the equipment of all offices will be 46320 UAH ≈ 1260 USD ≈ 1180 EUR, which is 2 times more profitable.
Taking the idea of recuperator equipment and PRANA 200C ECO ENERGY recuperator as an example, the amount for purchase and installation will be 1069000 UAH ≈ 29000 USD ≈ 27200 EUR. So at this stage it is economically advantageous to ventilate, and get a positive environmental effect from useless heat loss during the heating season.
