Endangered wildlife is an animal that is experiencing an extinction phase, that is, their numbers are decreasing. The main behind the issue are illegal hunting, and human activities such as the opening of new land are pressing issues that threaten to rebalance. Although many efforts have been made to protect this species, wild animals continue to face the threat of extinction, and urgent action is needed to address this issue. According to the latest article (The Star), Malaysia is home to more than 200 species of mammals, 620 species of birds, and 250 species of reptiles and amphibians, most of which are endangered and some are near extinction. The cause of this problem may come from a few people who do not know about wild animals in Malaysia. Many wild animals face extinction due to poaching and more.
In 2016, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) imposed a ban on international trade in all animal species including the Sunda Pangolin which is a pangolins found in Malaysia. This is because pangolins are some of the most protected animals in the world because there are irresponsible parties hunting them to obtain scales, meat and skin that are believed to be used for medicinal purposes.
In the book "Alan & Ling, jungle friends," a shy and timid pangolin named Ling lives in a dense forest threatened by a group of humans who want to capture them. When a boy named Alan appears, Ling hesitates to help Alan, but Alan convinces Ling that they can make a difference together.
As they work together to protect the forest, Alan realizes that he can't rely on other animals to help him this time. He must use his own knowledge to come up with a plan to stop the hunt in the forest.
With Alan's bravery and Ling's help, they managed to stop humans from hunting animals in the forest again. Ling is grateful for Alan's help and the two become good friends. "Alan & Ling" is a heartwarming story about the strength of friendship, courage, and determination in the face of difficulties
