Professional

I am an ECE Doctoral candidate at Georgia Tech working under the supervision of Dr. Arijit Raychowdhury. Originally I am from Lahore, Pakistan. In 2012, I completed my bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore Pakistan with a Gold Medal. I worked in the industry as a Software Engineer for about a year then moved to Al Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Sciences (KICS) Lahore as a Research Assistant. I graduated from Georgia Tech with an ECE master's degree in 2017. After that, I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer for a German-based startup on self-driving cars for about 3 months before starting my Ph.D. at Georgia Tech in Fall 2017. I am working on hardware-algorithm co-design of Machine Learning algorithms for real-time edge node computations. This includes making current ML training algorithms energy-efficient and designing efficient DNN accelerators.

Personal

I have lived the first 11 years of my life in UAE, then 14 in Pakistan, and the last 6 in the USA. I like running, playing cricket and badminton. My hobby includes 3D paper modeling and graphic designing. In my free time, I write articles, on the topics of machine learning and Ph.D. life. I like to travel (good old days). I have been to over 15 countries, 3 continents, and 23 US States. Metropolitan cities attract me more than scenic landscapes. By far I find San Diego and London on the list of top two cities I would like to live in.
