AP Video Notes processes YouTube transcript content locally on the user's device. The publisher does not receive, store, sell, or share users' transcripts or study notes.
When the user activates AP Video Notes on a YouTube video, the extension accesses the title, URL, and available transcript of that user-selected video. It uses this information only to create the study notes requested by the user.
Transcript summarization occurs locally through Chrome's built-in on-device Summarizer API when that feature is supported. On unsupported devices, the extension uses its packaged local outline generator. Transcript content is not sent to the publisher, an external AI provider, an advertising network, or a third-party summarization server.
The extension stores the user's selected course and summary-detail preferences using Chrome storage. These preferences are used only to provide the extension's requested functionality and can be removed by clearing extension data or uninstalling the extension.
If the user selects Download, Chrome saves the generated notes as a local text file. If the user selects Export to Google Docs, the extension copies the notes to the clipboard and opens a new Google Docs page. The user chooses whether to paste and save the notes in their Google account. The extension does not access the user's Google Drive or Google Docs account.
AP Video Notes does not sell user data, share user data with the publisher or third parties, use data for advertising, use data for creditworthiness or lending, or permit humans to read users' transcript or note content.
The publisher does not operate a transcript or notes database and therefore does not retain this content. Generated notes remain only where the user chooses to keep them, such as the open extension page, a downloaded file, the clipboard, or a document created by the user. Users can remove stored preferences by clearing extension data or uninstalling the extension.
The extension requests only the browser permissions needed to retrieve a user-selected YouTube transcript, save preferences, and download notes. All executable extension code is included in the installed package. The extension does not load remotely hosted executable code.
AP Video Notes is a general-purpose study tool. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or transmit transcript and note content to the publisher.
The use of information received through Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide the extension's clearly disclosed study-note functionality.
Material changes to this policy will be posted at this URL with an updated effective date. Extension behavior and Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated to remain consistent with this policy.
