The most convenient way to travel from Fukuoka International Airport to Beppu City is to take the Shuttle Bus. Here is the information:
The NISHITETSU Bus Ticket Counter (西鉄バス窓口) is located at the international terminal (1st FL, arrival floor). Please go to the ticket counter, and purchase a round-trip non-stop bus ticket bounding for Beppu. The bus fare is around 6,500 JPY (round-trip).

You can take the Sonic train from Hakata Station to Beppu Station; it will take around 2 hours and cost around 3,600–5,000 yen per trip. Please note that to take the train, you have to take a bus from Fukuoka International Airport to Hakata Station or a free shuttle bus from Fukuoka International Airport to Fukuoka Domestic Airport. Then take a subway to Hakata Station to take a direct "Sonic Train" to Beppu Station.
For a taxi, it will cost around 40,000–50,000 yen per ride, per car. It will also take around 2 hours for the trip.
