Your research stays in your browser. External lookups happen when you request research.
Updated October 4, 2026 · Version 2.1.5
What is stored locally
The extension uses browser local storage for your preferences, saved page titles and URLs, product details, recent rank observations, and public Amazon category links. It does not synchronize this data across devices or send it to an extension developer server. There is no analytics or advertising SDK.
When information leaves your browser
Amazon: When you select Start scraping, the extension requests product and additional listing pages from the selected marketplace and sends your search term to Amazon's US autocomplete service. Product and listing requests use your browser's existing Amazon session so Amazon can return the same page you see. The extension does not read, store, or transmit cookie values; the browser manages them. These requests expose your IP address and normal network request information to Amazon.
Google: Keyword suggestions are off by default. If enabled in the popup, research sends your search term with “app” appended to Google's suggestion service.
Links: Clicking an external research link opens the destination website. Normal browser privacy and cookie settings apply to that visit.
The developer does not sell data or use it for advertising. Data is used solely to provide the research features described here. Amazon and Google handle requests under their own privacy policies.
Control and deletion
Turn off “Show research info” in the popup for normal Amazon browsing. Open Appstore pages reload, research panels and layout changes are disabled, and new research requests are blocked. Turn it on to resume.
Use the popup to disable Google suggestions, delete individual favorites. “Clear research data” removes cached products and local rank history; it keeps favorites and preferences. Research already in progress can write new results, so wait for it to finish before clearing. Uninstalling the extension removes its browser storage. Exported CSV files remain in your downloads until you delete them.
Product cache entries expire after 24 hours and are pruned when the background worker starts, keeping at most 400 persisted entries at that point. Local rank history retains at most 60 observations per product and marketplace until you clear it. Favorites are retained until removed.
Product pages
Single-app pages show a collapsed summary built from the page already open. Expand it to copy or export the displayed app information. This summary makes no extra network requests.
How to use it
Open an Amazon Apps & Games search, best sellers, or new releases listing.
Choose the number of pages and select Start scraping in the page banner.
Review ranks and technical details, sort the results, or export selected apps to CSV.
Supported storefront hosts: Amazon.com, .co.uk, .de, .ca, .fr, .es, .it, .co.jp, and .in (www). English listings provide the best coverage. Availability depends on the marketplace and Amazon's page structure; some fields may be unavailable. Amazon may limit requests or display a verification page. Retry later if this occurs.
Understanding the numbers
Sales figures use a rough rank-based heuristic, not verified sales or download counts. Local “30d avg” values are the average of your available observations in the last 30 days, not a continuous market history. Local rank drops count observed improvements greater than 10%. Missing data is not evidence that an app lacks a feature.
Permissions
Storage saves preferences and research locally. Active tab reads the title and URL only when you open the popup and save your current page. Amazon host access enables the Appstore page interface and research requests; the interface checks that the page is an Appstore page before activating. Autocomplete host access enables the external requests described above. No remote JavaScript is loaded.
Support
Use the developer contact shown in the extension's store listing for support and privacy inquiries. Include the marketplace, page URL, and the feature affected.
