Important features include: 

(1) Link to your favourite online language learning tools

• You can study the texts sentence by sentence, phrase by phrase and word by word with your favourite online tools. Since the subtitles are extracted from the video as editable texts, Anata can feed them into these online tools.

• Some tool provides romanization for Japanese and pinyin for Chinese that can allow you to quickly learn how to pronounce each word. 

• Some tool provides Accent guidance for Japanese that can help you grasp the rhythm.

• Some tool provides grammatical breakdown to help you identify each part of speech. 

• You can highlight individual word and phrase of the subtitle to find out their meaning and usage. 

• You can add your favourite online tools in Settings.

• Online tools are defined by language so that you can have different set of tools for learning different languages at the same time. 

• Anata comes with recommended online tools. You can use them out of the box or you can remove or disable them (in Settings) if they do not suit your learning needs.

(2) Search

• Once you have a few titles in Anata, you can start searching them for words and phrases and learn how to use them in different contexts. 

• Even when you come across a new word outside Anata, you can also search it in the App to see if it is used in one of your favourite dramas and movies. 

• If a word does appear in your library of dramas & movies, you can add it to Keyword for further study.

(3) Keyword

• You can collect new words and phrases as Keyword so as to enrich your vocabulary, which is important to become proficient in a langauge.

• As in Search, each keyword will link to the titles in which it appears.

• Keyword is also linked to online tools so you can perform in-depth study.  

(4) Favourite

• If you like a particular “tile” (which is a term used in the App to refer to a collection of text, image and audio clips for a subtitle text), you can add it to Favourite for future review. 

• Usually you like a small segment of the story that consists of multiple tiles. In this case you can add them all to Favourite to preserve its entirety. 

(5) Notes

• It is important to write down your own thought and understanding so you can internalize what you have learned. 

• You can take notes for both Keyword and Tile.

• You can study notes separately in the Notes section without navigating all the keywords and tiles. That gives you a quick way to refresh your memory of the key learning in the past. 

(6) Explain

• Your online tools must be valuable to your language learning. So Anata provides a handy Explain section for you to send any ad hoc words and phrases to these online tools. 

• You can also add these ad hoc words / phrases to Keyword, no matter they are used in your library of titles or not. 

(7) Multiple Languages Supported

• Japanese, Chinese (both Traditional and Simplified) and English

(8) In-App Purchase

• Anata is free for use with a limited number of titles and keywords you can add. Apart from that, all functionalities of the App are available though. 

• Anata Unlimited is available for purchase in the In-App Purchase section.

Anata is meant to be a supplementary tool to your language learning need. It does not replace your main standard and essential learning courses and textbooks. You are advised to acquire a basic knowledge of a language (eg basic grammar) before you can reap the benefit of using Anata to improve your proficiency. 

1. Types of Information involved in the use of the App

The information you will put into the App includes:

• Video files you provided to the App

• Data extracted from video files

• Online tools URLs

• Keywords you add to the App

• Notes you add to the App

Specifically the following information is NOT required in order to use the App:

• Your personal information

• Your location information

• Your credit card information. 

• No user account is required 

• No login is required

2. Types of Information collected by us during the use of the App

There is NO information collected by us while you are using the App. All information collected by the App described above always remain in your device.

The App do not require any server backend to function. The only time it communicates with external world outside your device is via the embedded browser to navigate to the websites provided by you to the App.  

3. Advertising

The App does not embed advertising. We only rely on In-App Purchase to support the maintenance and further development of the App. 

For now, we do not have any plan to work with Advertisers and third party advertising networks.

4. Exporting, removing, & deleting your information

You have complete control over when to export, remove & delete any information you put into the App. 

5. When you share your information

The only time you might share your information with us is when you report issues to and request new features from us. In those cases, we might ask you provide information to help us trouble shoot the issue or develop use case for the new feature request. This however will happen outside the App and will be communicated over email channel. You have all the right to decide what information you would like provide to us. 

6. When we share your information

We will NOT share your information with any third parties except in the following cases:

• With your consent

• For legal reasons and required by law

7. Data Transfers

As mentioned above, there is NO explicit data transfer between the App and external world. 

However, there might be cases when we retrieve crash reports, performance metrics and diagnostics via Apple's App Store Connect for trouble shooting purpose. 

8. Changes to this Policy

We change this Privacy Policy as we further enhance the App. We always indicate the date when the last changes were published and we offer access to archived versions for your review. 

9. Agreement

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
