This notice describes how the AppMe application collects, uses, stores, and protects users' personal data.
AppMe is an application designed to let users connect with people nearby, view other users' availability, and use chat, notification, map, personal profile, and QR Code features.
By using AppMe and its related services, including sign-in through external providers such as Google, Facebook/Meta, Apple, or other supported authentication systems, the user acknowledges having read this notice.
The data controller is:
Name: Rizza Luciano
Contact email: rizzaluciano@gmail.com
The user may contact the controller at any time with questions regarding privacy, personal data management, or to exercise their rights.
AppMe collects and processes only the data necessary for the app to function and to provide the services requested by the user.
Depending on the features used, the following categories of data may be processed.
3.1 Account and Authentication Data
To enable registration, login, and account management, AppMe may process:
first and last name or profile name;
email address;
profile photo;
unique account identifier, e.g. Firebase UID;
identifier of the login provider used;
login provider used, e.g. Google, Facebook/Meta, Apple, or another supported provider;
email verification status, if applicable.
This data is necessary to create, recognize, and manage the user account within AppMe.
3.2 Sign-in via Facebook/Meta
If the user chooses to sign in to AppMe via Facebook Login, AppMe may receive certain Facebook account data from Meta/Facebook, within the limits of the permissions granted by the user.
The data received may include:
Facebook profile name;
email address associated with the Facebook account, if available and authorized;
profile image or photo;
unique Facebook identifier needed for authentication;
any technical information needed to complete the login.
AppMe uses this data exclusively to:
authenticate the user;
create or link the AppMe account;
display the name and profile picture within the app, where applicable;
enable use of the app's core features, such as chat, profile, availability, map, notifications, and QR Code.
AppMe does not post content to the user's Facebook profile, does not access the friends list, and does not use Facebook data for its own advertising purposes.
The user can revoke AppMe's access to their Facebook account at any time from Facebook settings, in the Apps and Websites section.
3.3 User Profile Data
Within the app, users can make certain profile information visible, including:
display name;
profile photo;
availability status, e.g. Available, Busy, Away, or Offline;
any essential information related to presence in the app.
The profile photo and name may be shown in areas of the app such as chat, the list of nearby users, the map, the personal QR Code, and conversation-related screens.
3.4 Location Data
With the user's authorization via operating system and app settings, AppMe may use device location to:
find people nearby;
calculate the approximate distance between users;
display available users on the map;
improve geolocated search.
Location data may include geographic coordinates, proximity information, geohash, or equivalent technical data needed to calculate distance.
Location is used for the app's proximity features and is not sold to third parties. The user can disable location sharing from the app settings or device settings. If disabled, some nearby-search or map features may be unavailable or limited.
3.5 Chat and Messaging Data
To enable messaging, AppMe may process:
identifiers of chat participants;
content of sent and received messages;
date and time of messages;
message status, e.g. sent, read, or unread;
conversation metadata, e.g. last message, unread message count, muted chats, or conversation-related preferences.
Some chat data may be stored locally on the user's device to improve speed, offline availability, and app performance. Deleting a chat locally from the device does not automatically equate to complete deletion of any data present on cloud services, unless a specific request for full personal data deletion is made.
3.6 Push Notification Data
If the user enables notifications, AppMe may process:
device token for push notifications;
FCM tokens or other technical identifiers needed to send notifications;
notification preferences;
minimal data needed to display alerts about new messages or app updates.
The user can disable notifications from the app settings or device settings.
3.7 QR Code Data
AppMe may generate a personal QR Code to make it easier to start a chat with another user.
The QR Code may contain technical information needed to identify the account within the app, such as:
user identifier;
display name;
email, if applicable;
account provider;
profile photo or a reference to it, if applicable.
Scanning the QR Code requires access to the device camera. Camera access is used solely to read the QR Code and for no other purpose.
3.8 Technical and Device Data
AppMe may process technical data necessary for the app's operation, security, and maintenance, including:
device model;
operating system and version;
technical identifiers generated by the services used;
information on app performance;
technical logs, errors, or diagnostic information;
language, theme, and local preferences;
data needed to manage the login session.
This data is used to ensure the app's stability, security, maintenance, and technical improvement.
Personal data is processed for the following purposes:
enabling user registration, login, and authentication;
enabling sign-in via external providers, including Facebook/Meta Login;
managing the account and personal profile;
enabling display of availability status;
enabling the search for people nearby;
displaying users on the map;
enabling sending and receiving messages;
managing push notifications related to chats, messages, or app updates;
generating and scanning QR Codes to quickly start a conversation;
storing user preferences, such as language, theme, notifications, availability, and location sharing;
preventing abuse, unauthorized access, or misuse of the service;
improving the app's stability, security, performance, and usability;
complying with any legal obligations.
Depending on the case, personal data processing is based on the following legal grounds:
Performance of the service requested by the user: to create and manage the account, enable login, and use chat, profile, map, QR Code, and the app's core features.
User consent: for features requiring specific permissions, such as location, push notifications, camera, or sign-in via external providers, including Facebook/Meta.
Legitimate interest of the controller: to ensure security, prevent abuse, improve the app, fix technical errors, and maintain the reliability of the service.
Legal obligation: when processing is necessary to comply with regulatory requirements, authority requests, or obligations under the law.
The user may withdraw consent where applicable, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
To function properly, AppMe uses technical services provided by third parties.
Data may be processed or shared, to the extent necessary, with:
Google Firebase, for authentication, database, storage, push notifications, cloud infrastructure, and related technical services;
Google, for sign-in via Google account, where used;
Meta / Facebook, for sign-in via Facebook Login, user authentication, and management of permissions granted by the user;
Apple, for sign-in via Apple ID, where available and used;
technical providers strictly necessary for the app's operation, security, maintenance, or distribution.
Data is not sold to third parties.
Sharing occurs only to the extent necessary to provide the service, manage technical infrastructure, ensure security, or comply with legal obligations.
AppMe may allow sign-in via external providers, such as Google, Facebook/Meta, Apple, or other supported systems.
When the user chooses to sign in via an external provider, AppMe may receive certain data from the provider, such as name, email, profile photo, and account identifier.
Processing carried out by the external provider remains governed by that provider's own privacy notices and terms of use. Users are encouraged to review the notices of the providers they use.
The user can revoke access granted to the external provider from their account settings with that provider. Revoking access with the provider may prevent future sign-ins via that provider, but does not necessarily result in automatic deletion of data already present in AppMe's systems.
Personal data is retained for as long as necessary to provide AppMe's services and for the purposes stated in this notice.
Specifically:
account data is retained as long as the account remains active;
data received via Facebook Login is retained as long as needed to manage the AppMe account or until a deletion request is made;
profile and presence data is retained as long as needed for the app to function;
location data is updated and used for proximity features, unless disabled by the user;
notification tokens are retained as long as needed to send notifications or until revoked/disabled;
chat data is retained to allow conversation continuity, unless deleted locally or a full deletion request is made;
local preferences may remain on the device until logout, app deletion, data clearing, or settings changes;
any technical backups are deleted according to the standard rotation policies of the systems used.
When data is no longer necessary, it is deleted, anonymized, or retained only if required by law.
In accordance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), the user may exercise the following rights:
right of access to their personal data;
right to rectification or update;
right to erasure of data;
right to restriction of processing;
right to object, where applicable;
right to data portability, where applicable;
right to withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent;
right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (Italian Data Protection Authority).
To exercise these rights, the user may write to:
Email: rizzaluciano@gmail.com
The request will be handled within the timeframes set out by applicable law.
This section also serves as Data Deletion Instructions for providers requiring a dedicated deletion-instructions page, including Facebook Login.
10.1 Removing the App from Your Facebook Account
If the user has used Facebook Login, they can unlink AppMe from their Facebook account by following these steps:
log in to your Facebook account;
go to Settings & Privacy;
select Settings;
open the Apps and Websites section;
search for AppMe in the list of connected apps;
select AppMe;
click Remove to revoke access.
This action stops future data sharing between Facebook and AppMe, but does not necessarily result in automatic deletion of all data already present in AppMe's systems.
10.2 Requesting Full Data Deletion from AppMe
To request deletion of personal data stored by AppMe, including any data received via Facebook Login, the user can send a request to:
Email: rizzaluciano@gmail.com
Recommended email subject:
"AppMe Data Deletion Request"
Recommended content of the email:
the email address used to access the app;
the profile name displayed in the app;
the login provider used, e.g. Google, Facebook, or Apple;
any information useful to identify the account, such as a profile screenshot or user ID, if available;
an explicit request to delete the account and associated data.
The controller will verify the request and delete the personal data within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days, except in special cases or where legal obligations require a different timeframe.
Once the process is complete, a confirmation will be sent to the user where possible.
10.3 Effects of Deletion
Following deletion:
the account may no longer be accessible;
profile data associated with the account will be deleted or anonymized;
data received via Facebook Login will be deleted or anonymized, except where required by law;
presence and location data associated with the account will be deleted or anonymized;
notification tokens associated with the account will be removed;
conversations and related data may be deleted or anonymized, within applicable technical and legal limits;
some data may temporarily remain in technical backups until naturally removed according to rotation policies;
some data may be retained if necessary for legal obligations, security, abuse prevention, or the protection of the rights of the controller or third parties.
10.4 Local Deletion from the Device
The user can also remove local data by logging out, clearing the app's cache, uninstalling the app from the device, or using any available in-app deletion features.
Local deletion from the device does not always equate to full deletion of data that may exist on cloud systems. For full deletion, the request described in section 10.2 must be submitted.
The user can revoke permissions granted to the app at any time, including:
location;
camera;
notifications;
access via external providers.
To revoke Facebook access, the user can log in to their Facebook account and remove AppMe from the Apps and Websites section.
Revoking Facebook access prevents AppMe from receiving further data from Facebook, but does not automatically delete data already associated with the AppMe account. For full deletion, the request described in section 10.2 must be submitted.
The controller reserves the right to modify this notice at any time to reflect:
app developments;
new features;
technical updates;
regulatory changes;
requests from distribution platforms or login providers.
In the event of significant changes, the user may be notified via the app, the notice page, or other available channels.
The date of the last update will always be indicated at the top of the document.
For any questions regarding this notice, privacy, personal data management, or data deletion, the user can contact:
