Where to Invade Summary
When watching the film where to invade next it made me think about all the free things other countries have. In keeping with the military mindset so familiar to US citizens, Michel Moore visits, the European countries with the best social, educational and labour ideas: Italy with its paid vacations for workers; France, where school canteens serve nutritious, educational food; Finland with its excellent education, regarded as the best in the world, where students are taught how to be happy; Portugal, where the legalisation of drugs has reduced drug trafficking; Norway, where open prisons have improved the reinsertion of ex-convicts into society; and Iceland, where equality policies have placed women on a par with men in the world of employment.
In Germany the workers get three weeks paid vacation. In the United States I feel like you get frowned upon when you request days off even if you have accrued vacation time. It upsets me to think about all the money the United States has yet we cant implement any of the things other countries get. It makes me wonder are we really an advanced country? If I could choose one idea to implement in the US it would be to give Three weeks mandatory vacation. I think in the United States people work to hard and work multiple jobs. I would also implement these two things because people suffer from depression and anxiety its to much pressure from working all day. I believe we could implement all the ideas from the film because we have more income than other countries. Our budget would allow for everyone to have a more relaxed way of living. In Nicaragua alot of things are implemented for example lunch is a two hour break and you go home with your family to eat a home cooked meal.
