Occasionally users get random screen rotation on their iPads, which can be a real pain when using Facetime, but looks like this has been an intermittent problem for a while and there are a couple of solutions that may help.
1. Try doing a hard reset of the iPad by holding both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button down for 6 seconds until it powers off.
or
2. Restart the iPad while holding it in portrait orientation.
