The career path that I have chosen at Independence University is the Graphic Arts Program. I have been sketching and drawing since I can remember. Art is my passion. I feel at peace and my heart is content when I am drawing, designing, and sketching. Creativity just flows through me naturally and onto the sketch book or computer just as a musician plays their instrument. I have taken three years of art, a year in pottery class, and a year in photography in high school. I have always been interested in color, shapes, typography, balance, photography, and logos, and how they all work together to convey a message to the observer, capture their attention, and make them feel informed or inspired. I like learning and exploring new ideas and concepts in designing various applications such as magazines, advertisements, and brochures. I believe that I have a good eye for style, detail, and design. I can translate information and feelings visually through my drawings, photography, and design.

I hope to one-day work for big companies such as Apple, Google, or Disney in their branding, marketing, advertising, or designing department. I see myself creating designs and concepts through photography, animation, billboards, walls, faces of buildings, and blimps for the companies I have mentioned above someday. Through Independence University, I will be able to learn the technical and digital skills needed to pursue my career in Graphic Design such as image editing, typography, color, web designing, logo and identity designing, package designing, advertising, animation, and many others. The skills that I will learn in my program will be beneficial in executing my designs in the future company that I will be working for.

In the past, I have been complimented by my teachers, college instructors, and work supervisors on how effectively I communicate, specially visually and in written form. I am flexible and adaptable in all situations, and I work well in emergency situations because of my background in the medical field- nursing. I am a calm natured person, and work well with others. I have the confidence and motivation to succeed in the career of Graphic Design because I have a definite plan of what I want to achieve in the future. I have a strong desire to be in this field which I will continue to pursue until I succeed.
