Tesla is starting to demonstrate how things may rapidly change due to AI and robotics. Musk and other experts are even asserting that "AI and robots will replace all jobs." While that may be hyperbole, it is not hyperbole that there will likely be significant layoff and displacements. If this is not managed properly, the effects of this coming period could be devastating and dangerous, with American citizens losing their jobs, their property, and their historic liberty. Power could become centralized against local interests, as we are already seeing happen, with Michigan PA 233 being used as a vehicle for distant corporate imposition.
Government (especially local government) has an important role to play in seeking a just transition, and it has the duty of a just response, based upon Biblical capitalism. Biblical capitalism differs from humanistic laissez-faire capitalism in that Biblical capitalism operates according to Biblical Christian principles summarized in the Ten Commandments, with government playing an active and not a minimalist role in making sure those Biblical principles are upheld. The Book of Nehemiah demonstrates Biblical capitalism in action, the civil official Nehemiah and fellow civil leaders working to regulate behavior in a just direction within the context of a generally free market economy. Biblical capitalism even more significantly differs from communism, socialism, and Nazism. It is especially important that locally elected government leaders step in to protect local citizens, as they are closest to the people they serve.
The first test of local government leaders arises with our local electric grid, because electricity is central to the AI revolution. If we lose this one, it is hard to see how local citizens will win with other ones. Indeed, without local control of the local electric grid, serving the interests of the local electorate, local citizens can become the expendable slaves of distant powers. Control of the electric grid not only affects electricity (although that is important in itself in modern society), but also water and farmlands. The Net Zero agenda coupled with the AI revolution puts in jeopardy electricity, water and farmlands for the local electorate. This is why the "Save The Campbell" effort is so focused on getting local control of our electric grid, by the grace of God.
Local government leadership to protect the local electorate must not stop with seeking local control of our electric grid. For instance, it must also work to prevent outside corporate interests from coming in and purchasing most of the property in the county during a period when local citizens may be under severe financial stress due to significant layoffs and displacements resulting from the AI revolution. Local houses and farmlands should be kept in local hands, to maintain a robust middle class here which owns property and is gainfully employed. Automation and robots should be the slave of the American people to help them, not the other way round. Local government must also make sure that automation and robotics here are legally and properly controlled by law-abiding citizens, and are not used as tools of criminal or other dangerous agents.
We must pray to God that He would give wisdom to our locally elected leaders at this time of rapid societal change.
