Applied Electrochemistry Lab

Missions

  • Intensive and intellectually challenging teaching to provide to a world-class education (knowledge transmission);

  • World-leading research to develop new technologies (knowledge creation);

  • Application of knowledge (technological transfer and public engagement).

Research activities of the Applied Electrochemistry Lab led by Prof. Monica Santamaria refers to Applied Physical Chemistry field with particular interest for the Applied Electrochemistry. More specifically, research themes are listed below:

- Surface treatments for the preparation of functional coatings for advanced engineering applications in the microelectronics field and in the corrosion protection (anodic oxides as coatings for biomedical, marine and aerospace applications).

- Corrosion of metals in operating conditions typical of process industry (food, pharmaceutical and chemical).

- (Photo-)electrochemical processes for the production of chemicals (hydrogen, organic compounds of industrial interest)

- Innovative modules of low temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEMFC and DMFC)
