Diocesan Awards
Since 1980, the bishops of our diocese have recognized individuals whose Christian faith is put to action to serve the community at-large by honoring them with the Our Lady of Guadalupe Award. In 2002, the St. Bernardine Award was introduced to recognize outstanding and loyal employees of the Diocese of San Bernardino. Most recently, in 2012, the diocese added the St. John Paul II Youth Award that brings to light the great faith and bright future that our youth beholds. Each one of these honorees' story of how they touch the lives of others through Christ inspires us to also put our faith into action. We thank them for their good work and are grateful for their service and love of God.
All nominations are initiated by the pastors of our diocesan parishes and missions, and accepted by the Diocese once we have opened the acceptance period. If you have any questions, please e-mail ymadrid@sbdiocese.org
Our Lady of Guadalupe Award
Individuals who have demonstrated exemplary generosity, leadership and/or service for the good of the diocesan or local civic communities
St. Bernardine Award
A Church employee with at least 10 consecutive years of employment who has significantly fulfilled the mission of the local church.
St. John Paul II Youth Award
A young Catholic person from 16 to 20 years old that carries the spirit of St. John Paul II.
Pro Ecclesial Et Pontifice
This papal award is a distinction granted by the Holy Father as recommended by a bishop.
