Membership in the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter shall be open to all Utica College students without exception. Membership in the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter shall be granted only after completion of the Membership requirements prescribed by the National Fraternity and by the College Chapter.
Active Membership in the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter shall be conferred upon enrolled undergraduate and graduate students of Utica College who have successfully completed a pledging program in accordance with the guidelines established in the National Pledging Standards and the Membership Policies of the Fraternity. Active Membership shall carry all rights and responsibilities in The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter, including voting and holding office. Eligibility for Active Membership shall continue so long as the Member remains in good standing with the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter and is an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in Utica College. Good standing shall be defined by completion of the following obligations: 1. Payment of all chapter and National dues. 2. Completion of all Membership requirements as outlined in The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter Standing Rules, Policies, and Procedures.
Pledge Membership in the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter shall be conferred upon students enrolled at Utica College who choose to participate in a period of preparation and training in the ideals and purposes of Alpha Phi Omega in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation, the National Bylaws, and the operating policies of the National Fraternity. Pledge Members may attend and participate in any chapter function. Pledge Members may not vote at meetings of the General Membership or hold chapter office.
Associate Membership shall last only for one semester, and the requirements for Associate Membership shall be set by the Executive Board on an individual basis at a hearing with the petitioning Member. This status must consist of active brothers who are requesting a semester of associate status. An associate brother is still welcomed to any APO events for service as well as fellowship. If an activity is involving a money matter the associate brother must pay out of their own way. The required dues of an associate brother will be at minimum the required insurance cost of said brother plus any added charges, as determined by the Treasurer and Executive Board. The Vice President of Membership will present to the current E-board to vote on a final decision.
The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter may confer Honorary Membership upon persons who have contributed significantly to the ideals and purposes of Alpha Phi Omega. Persons so honored shall have all the rights and privileges of Active Membership. Honorary Membership shall not be bestowed upon undergraduate students. Honorary Membership shall be conferred by three fourths vote of the General Membership.
Transfer students of Utica College who hold Active Membership at a chapter of Alpha Phi Omega other than The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter may apply for Active Membership in The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter after having met with the current E-board to discuss the history and traditions of The Utica College Eta Mu Chapter and after the required paperwork is submitted to the National Office.
An Active Member who has graduated from or is no longer enrolled at Utica College as an undergraduate or graduate student can be recognized as an Alumni Member of The Utica College Chapter so long as they fulfill the duties of Active Membership and are in good standing. Good standing requirements include but are not limited to completing all service and fellowship hours, no open officer reviews, no outstanding dues, and is approved by the general body. Alumni Membership shall carry with it all the rights and privileges of Active Membership. Alumni Members may join the Utica College Eta Mu Chapter Alumni Association.
