Economics is the study of people´s choices based on the idea that resources are scarce. Macroeconomics is a branch of economics that studies the choices that countries and there policy makers make.
Its important to understand the skills involved in learning process that both AP and myself want you to pursue in order to successfully master the topics inside this and other units. It will serve us as an orientation process on how we will take on the class.
1. Principles and models: This is the first step of the learning process and it intends to define economics principles and models.
2. Interpretation: In this second step, you will be expected to explain given economic outcomes as a whole.
3. Manipulation: Here, you will determine outcomes of specific economic situations.
4. Graphing and Visuals model economic situations using graphs or visual representations.
I hope that we can reach agreements for this class to be a succesful learning enviornment. Please take note of the following:
Be empathic towards your teacher, your peers and yourself. That includes respect, tolerance, and understanding.
Don´t be afraid to reach out to your teacher. We will use Google Chat or mail for any questions or doubts that you might have. Same goes for parents. I hope to return communication within the next 24 hours for both. My email account is: juan.hernandez@cng.edu.co
This is an AP class. I expect you to give it your best. I expect this from myself aswell. I also would like for you to have your camera on at all times during the class and be properly dressed for it. This is part of the respect that you, your peers and myself deserve. My experience has shown me that this champions student performance in these virtual times.
A greek philosopher called Plato talk about a virtue called Temperance, or the moderation of impulses. Please refrain from using you mobile phones during class. You will miss out on important explanations of the class!
Be prepared for every class. You will be given as asynchronous work for every week, and will be expected to have it ready when the topic is being reviewed in class.
Your input is very important for the class. Do you have any questions regarding economics? Please share!
