Welcome Address (by Founding President of APLI, Professor Wan-Hong Lan)

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of Founding President of Asia Pacific Laser Institute, I would like to extend my dearest welcome and appreciation to all friends, participants, and esteemed guest speakers from all over the world. This time, we are not alone. Cooperating with the three major international well-known associations, we are very honored to host the World Congress of APLI joined forces with EMLA (European Medical Laser Association) and ALD (Academy of Laser Dentistry), and GMA Laser Education, and delegations from many other countries in Taipei, Taiwan on October 28~30, 2022. At this very moment, I am thrilled and proud to say: Thank you for helping us as the organizers for this very event, and the scarcity of one of the best Laser Congress in the world has been truly appreciated. 

Experts from all over the world will be here in Taipei, ready to give out the best glamour. The most innovative concept of contemporary and future prospects in Laser Dentistry and PBM (Photo-BioModulation) will be delivered and a border-less platform of sharing and learning will be built for each of the delegates.

Taipei is one of the modern cities that share a great diversity in multiple aspects. I would like to invite you to not only gain the knowledge from this congress but also experience the dynamic yet vivid Taipei to wrap up your valuable weekend.

Lastly, I hope we could meet in this beneficial congress and exchange our greatest harvest we have gained from the 16th Annual Congress of Asia Pacific Laser Institute. Let's make Laser Medicine both globalized and fully localized in Taiwan.

Introduction  of APLI (by Founding CEO of APLI, Professor Jyuhn H. Ke)

The purpose of Asia Pacific Laser Institute (APLI) is to organize continuing education in lasers and train dentists in the Asia-Pacific region to be familiar with laser equipment through theoretical and practical courses.

Lasers in Dentistry in Taiwan are pretty advanced ever since the first dental laser (CO2 ) was introduced to Taiwan in 1982 by Professor Wan-Hong Lan. When FDA approved the first Er:YAG laser in 1997 and Er,Cr:YSGG in 1998, the first Erbium family laser (WaterLase) was introduced by Professor Jyuhn H. Ke into Asia in 1999 to Taiwan.  In 2007, APLI (Asia Pacific Laser Institute) was founded by Emeritus Professor Wan-Hong Lan as Founding Chairman and Professor Jyuhn H. Ke as Founding CEO.

More than 50 international speakers had been invited to lecture, including world-leading professors, such as Isao Ishikawa and George E. Romanos; past presidents of Academy of Laser Dentistry Professor Donald J Coluzzi and Japanese Society of Laser Dentistry Professor Yoshimitsu Abiko and Ambrose Chan; and some professors from Roma Linda University such as James Jessie and Sandip Desai and Daniel McEowen; and some professors from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, such as Professor Akira Aoki and Okudera Hajime; and many more. Many worldwide famous laser speakers gave lectures at this 1st World Congress of APLI very successfully at the Grand Hotel in Taipei in July 2007.

Since then, Annual Congresses were held every year and attracted international delegates from around the globe, with the objective to bring together the world experts in Laser Dentistry. In 2013, APLI co-hosted with SOLA (Society for Oral Laser Applications) to hold the 2013 World Congress of SOLA at Taipei Medical University. In 2019, APLI was one of the co-hosts of 2019 WLMC (World Laser Medicine Congress) which attracted more than 600 participants and delegations from 26 countries. And in March 2022, we are very proud to co-host with EMLA (European Medical Laser Association) with 42 countries delegations, 62 speakers, and hundreds of participants joining the online webinars.
