Asian and Pacific Islander. There are also acronyms used to describe Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, i.e. APA (Asian/Pacific American), AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander), AANHPI/AMEMSA (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander/Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, South Asian).
It's important to recognize the vast diversity of the continent of Asia, and what we really mean when we say "Asian" or "Asian American."
While this event's content and purposes center the experiences and lives of API youth ages 13-24, people of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to attend and participate.
We ask that everyone join the event with these community agreements in mind:
To be respectful of one another
To maintain safety amongst each other
To be open to different ideas
1. To build community with others through workshops, performances, and advocacy!
2. To learn and practice skills in awareness-raising, communication, and relationship-building!
3. To be a part of something that matters!
4. To try something new!
The event will be held indoors, including performances. Masks are not required, though we do encourage individuals to determine what is best for your safety. If you are experiencing symptoms, we ask that you take care of yourself and wellbeing at home.
