What is API Youth Forum?
API (Asian and Pacific Islander) Youth Forum is an annual event for teens, young adults, and adults to gather for a celebration of culture, leadership, strong communities, and healthy relationships. It is a space created for youth and by youth (ages 13-22). Since the first Youth Forum in 2015, over 100 youth annually have participated in workshops, shared their stories, given performances, and presented social impact projects.
Alongside staff of community-based organizations, youth leaders across LA county are currently co-leading the planning for Youth Forum this year, bringing fresh ideas, new energy, and strong ties to the community.
Adult attendees are invited to the event to explore their role as allies to the young people in their lives, whether as teachers, mentors, parents, service providers, or friends, and strengthening their role in sharing power with youth, rather than exercising power over youth, and respecting youth as thought partners.
