The Aphasia Empowerment Lab is committed to bridging research and community practice through sustained outreach initiatives focused on dementia and cognitive-communication disorders. In collaboration with local dementia care center (台北市北投區林泉社區發展協會社區照顧關懷據點), we design and implement communication-centered activities that aim to maintain cognitive-linguistic functioning, promote meaningful interaction, and enhance quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
Our outreach programs emphasize evidence-based principles derived from research on language, aging, and cognitive reserve. Activities are structured to support semantic engagement, autobiographical memory, and functional communication in naturalistic contexts. In addition to direct engagement with participants, these programs also serve as a platform for knowledge translation, allowing research insights to be adapted into accessible practices for caregivers, clinicians, and community partners.
Through Community Outreach, the lab seeks to foster a reciprocal relationship between research and society, in which empirical findings inform practice, and real-world communication challenges guide future research directions.
