Gaze patterns in aphantasia
University of Stirling
University of Stirling
We are looking for volunteers aged 18-27 to participate in this study about gaze patterns in aphantasia taking place at the University of Stirling
We are recrutiing participants who can create mental images (typical imagers) and those who cannot (aphantasics)
You must be between 18-27 and have normal or corrected-to-normal vision to take part!
What is this project about?
How strongly do you visualise? Can you visualise at all? Aphantasia is an individual difference in the ability to produce mental imagery, most often characterised by the inability to visualise mentally. This project seeks to learn more about mental imagery and learn more about eye movements in both those can and cannot mentally imagine.
We are looking for people with typical imagery and aphantasia to take part in this research!
What will you be asked to do?
We invite you to come to the Division of Psychology at the University of Stirling, where you will complete tasks using eye tracking. We will also ask you to complete some questionnaires. You will be compensated £25 as a voucher for your time.
If you decide to sign up you will be asked to complete two parts in this experiment:
What will you have to do?
A test established to objectively determine visual imagery ability.
A test desined to analyse gaze patterns during a task
A series of questionnaires, assessing different aspects of mental imagery, ranging from questions on the vividness of your visual imagery to your use of imagery in day-to-day life.
Who can take part?
You must be between the ages of 18-27, and have normal or corrected to normal vision.
Additionally, if you have any known neurological conditions or a history of epilepsy or seizsures you must not participate.
Are there any benefits in taking part?
You will receive £25 in the form of a gift voucher for your time in participating in this research
