The LRC team believes that we can contribute to students' learning and development. As a way of promoting books and reading that fosters students' motivation to learn, the LRC READ UP Program will be established with the following objectives:
Support and empower students to become curious and motivated learners.
Provide opportunities for children to continually read with the use of rewards and point system
Students will be awarded certificates upon completion of the reading program for each level
Super Readers and Star Readers for Grades 1, 2, and 3
Grade 4 will be awarded with the bronze, silver, and gold medals
1st TERM
"Read to me" NUGGETS - during 1st break (1-3)*
19th ANNUAL BOOK FAIR - 1st term, October
Bookmobile - provide for children books to read during break time. Serves as motivational tool for reading.
*ARAB READING CHALLENGE*
"Reading Support Program" - this is done during the Library Period of Grades 1,2,3) to support those struggling beginning readers
"Read to me" NUGGETS - during 1st break (1-3) this program is provided students an avenue to practice, improve and showcase their reading ability.
Did You know? - this is to provide another opportunity for Grades 1-6 to showcase their reading ability while gaining additional knowledge during the morning assembly.
2nd TERM
"100 APG Best Story Readers" - open to all students (refer to https://storylineonline.net/)
"Reading Support Program"* - this is done during the Library Period of Grades 1,2,3)
